about me

Mendi Joi Wilson has enjoyed writing since she was a young girl. Her love for poetry flourished during early adolescence. Mendi loves God, self, family, friends, and people.

Mendi is a licensed professional counselor for the state of Ohio (LPC) and has provided counseling for numerous children and their families since 2010. However, she has worked with children in various settings most of her life. Mendi knew since she was a child that she wanted to teach, mentor, nurse or counsel children. Like most children whose future aspirations change, Mendi wanted to be a teacher, an author of children’s books, a pediatrician, and now a counselor. Although the careers may have changed over the years, her passion for children has not.

Not only is her love for children great, but she loves people, in general. She cares a lot and is willing to help those in need. It pains her to see other people hurt and she strives to be the best person, woman, daughter, friend she can be. Though often quiet in nature, Mendi enjoys being around people, especially those who have things in common with her. She particularly loves going to church, singing in the choir, line dancing with friends, and even karaoke. Mendi enjoys playing sports and board games. She is willing to try anything once as long as it is not detrimental to her health and/or overall well-being,

Mendi is a believer and loves Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She desires that all people will grow to love Him so that the world would be a much happier, safer, and peaceful place. Until then, Mendi will continue loving people as Jesus does, extending grace, patience, and forgiveness. Although she is far from perfect, she strives to be better every day and encourages others to do the same.

“Make A Joyful Noise,” is Mendi’s first publication. The poems are from her heart and stretch as far as high school years. It is a compilation of her work that she wants people to see what she has been holding onto all these years. The poems are geared toward the young reader or the young at heart. Mendi hopes that everyone who picks up the pages will experience God’s love penetrating through the pages of the book and will be encouraged.
